Born in Poland, Ela Bauer grew up in Israel. After studying at the University of Jerusalem (Comparative Literature and Indology), she studied jewelry at a vocational school. In 1990 she entered the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in the Netherlands. Graduated in 1995, she still lives and works in Amsterdam. Ela took part in many international individual and collective exhibitions. Her work is included in museums’ collections: Museum of Art and Design, NY, USA, Grassi Museum, Leipzig, Germany, Pinakothek der Moderne, Dänner Collection, Munich, Germany, Hiko Mizuno Collection, Tokyo, Japan, Textile Museum, Tilburg, The Netherlands, Coda museum Apeldoorn, the Netherlands and in private collections.

Inspired by the internal and external aspects of the human form, Ela Bauer works mainly with resins, textiles and silicone. The tactility, plasticity and color possibilities that characterize these materials, have a big influence on her artistic expression.
