Sophie Hanagarth trained as a jewellery designer from 1988-1992 and graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Geneva (nowadays HEAD) in 1995. She has been teaching jewellery design at the Academy of Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg (HEAR) and the AFEDAP (a professional, private jewellery academy) in Paris, where she lives, since 2002.
Hanagarth was awarded with two of the most prestigious awards of the artistic jewellery: the “Herbert Hofmann Preiss” in 2011 and the “Françoise van den Bosch Award”, em 2014. Her work is part of various museological collections like the “Musée des Arts Décoratifs” and the “Achat du Fonds National d’Art Contemporain” in Paris, France, the “Coda Museum” in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, the “Schmuck Museum”, Pforzheim and the “Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe”, Hamburg, Germany, the “Museum of Fine Arts”, Houston, USA, among others.
