For as long as she remembers, Ana Margarida Carvalho has traveled whenever she can. Over time, her work has been increasingly influenced by the places she visited, her family stories, and the topics and news she encounters—even if this influence isn’t always obvious at first glance.

She holds a degree in Mathematics from the FCT at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She began her jewelry studies at Ar.Co in Lisbon, where she also developed a solo project under the guidance of Leonor Hipólito, with a scholarship from MC Arquitectos, in 2008. That same year, she attended the Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry in Tokyo, Japan.

She was awarded First Prize at the 4th Portojóia Design Competition in 2006, the “Assemblage Award” at Artistar Jewelry 2019, the ARTE Y JOYA 2020 International Award, and a nomination in the “Juror’s Choice” category at the Foldforming Competition 2021.

Since 2005, she has exhibited regularly in Portugal and abroad. Her work is featured in numerous publications, as well as in private and institutional collections, both nationally and internationally. Alongside her artistic practice, she has taught, led workshops, and given lectures since 2007, collaborating notably with the Jewelry Department of Ar.Co, ALGURES, the Lisbon Jewelry Center, and the Royal Treasury Museum.

She is a member of PIN, Klimt02, the Art Jewelry Forum, and the Lisboa Cantat Musical Association.
