Sara Leme began her studies in classical and contemporary dance at the Lisbon Conservatory and later studied silversmithing at the Escola Artística António Arroio and at Silvera Jewelry School (Berkeley, California). In 2018, completed a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam), specialising in Contemporary Jewellery – Linking Bodies.
Since 2014, has participated in solo and group exhibitions, including the Centro Cultural de Belém, Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, and the National Museum of Ethnology. In 2019, was awarded the 1st Prize in the Young Creators Award, and in 2023 received a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to pursue studies in the Performing Arts.
Completed a Master’s degree in Scenography at Elisava (Barcelona) and collaborated with the company La Veronal on productions for the Paris Opera and the Ghent Opera. As a scenographer and costume designer, her work includes productions for Teatro Nacional São Luiz, Centro Cultural de Belém, and the Dutch National Prize – International Dance Competition. Collaborated with Vera Mantero. In Barcelona, worked with Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, and Teatre Lliure.
Currently works at the intersection of jewellery, scenography, and costume design, developing an interdisciplinary practice that investigates relationships of scale and presence between body, object, and space.
